Latest Kids Pic

In case you didn't figure out from the picture, another "little" Hodge will be here around Christmas. Since Allison is a high risk pregnancy we figured we go ahead and get the word out so people can be praying. By our calculations, we will be due on December 31st. Allison and I are so excited. Its time for us to gear up for a bunch of trips to see our doctors. Good thing we love all of them!!

Parenthood

This is hard. I knew that coming into this, but it is hard. Caroline is in a very mommy needy phase, crying often, content when she is not just touching me, but on me. There have been some very sweet snuggly moments, and some moments that require me to need my Lord. I suppose there are worse things, right?
All that said...I think today I have seen a break through in a bit of my attitude. Crazy how KidStuf can still impact my world even though I'm not directing it anymore. The past couple of weeks I have been filling in as a guest host at BBCC KidStuf while my friend Holly, is out on maternity leave. This month the virtue is JOY! What a wonderful word. What I was reminded of this past Sunday was that JOY is really a choice. I can CHOOSE to react different ways...I am going to CHOOSE to react as Christ. So, this morning, pretty sure I knew what lay ahead, I prayed w/ Caroline, as she was crying getting her diaper changed...prayed that we would both have JOY. That we would CHOOSE JOY! When she has been crying I have been encouraging her to ask Jesus to help her find JOY. In the midst of her crying I would remind her that we are going to have a great day today! And honestly, even though the first nap didn't happen, and the 2nd one she cried the first 1.5 hrs until I went up there rocked her for a minute and layed her down again (now she is out)...today as been a GREAT day! We had a blast at the park w/ our small group mom's and kids.
So, I guess this little post is to remind myself, and you, that JOY is a choice. CHOOSE it, be active about how your day is going to go. We'll be amazed who is watching us and how we react...mostly it's those little ones that are watching us! Let us CHOOSE wisely.

A new level of love

Sorry I don't have any pics this time...we need another battery for our camera! But I wanted to update you all on a few new things that the Boo is doing!

* She has been taking a few steps at a time, but most recently today she decided to walk around the corner of the couch towards me in the kitchen...she looked quite pleased w/ herself
* She is very mommy needy lately...I can leave her w/ anyone, Waumba Land no prob, but set her down to go do anything and she wigs...I guess it is nice to be needed
*She pooped in the bathtub two nights ago...oh my gosh! This hadn't happened yet...it is a new level of love to scoop that stuff out of there. Honestly, any other kid and I probably wouldn't be able to do it...but your own...saddle up!

The Hodges House 4/7/08 11:37pm

Nothing like your wife's team beating your team, then going to win the national championship. Honestly, I have fallen in love with the Jayhawks since I fell in love with my wife. I was pulling for them as hard as I was pulling for the Tar Heels on Saturday night. Allison is my Kansas sunset. Always changing but beautiful every time I see her.

Jelly, Pig Tails, & March Madness

Just a few recent pics of this week. She is enjoying jelly on her toast in the mornings.
I adore this green dress she got for her bday...complete w/ pink and white striped belt.
Then...the strange outfit for today is in honor of tonights game! For those of you who are unaware KU (that is Kansas not Kentucky) plays UNC tonight in the first round of the Final Four! Big here in our house...sooo the little miss is wearing her KU colors on the bottom and her UNC colors on the top!
